The NAB AFL Under-16 National Championships is the beginning of the NAB AFL Rising Stars Program and is significant milestone in a player's football journey.
Similar to the Under-18 Championships, this carnival is split into two divisions with Division 1 comprising of Vic Metro, Vic Country, South Australia and Western Australia. Division 2 is made up of teams from NSW/ACT, Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania, whilst there are also matches between the Boomerangs (Indigenous Under 15s) and World XI (Multicultural). The championships are usually scheduled throughout June and July each year.
The championships provide most of the 200 selected players with their first opportunity to test themselves against the best emerging young players from across the country.
